SOOO SORRY I ACCIDENTALLY VOTED THE WRONG ANSWER IM NEW TO THIS YAHOO THING AND I WANTED TO GIVE THE USER A RESPONSE BUT I ENDED UP VOTING THE ANSWER…KK SO HERE IS THE QUESTION…. my boyfriend and i have been together for about 2 and a half years, we were together 11 months when i found out i was pregnant… i decided to keep he baby because i dont believe in abortions, and made it clear to him that i do not need him in my life and since the baby has been born i have never asked for a single penny… he does come around to see his child and he gives me money, however that money has been put away and a rarely touch it… wen i do touch it i replace whatever i took out… due to the fact he is not working and has no solid income at the moment…..our son is almost a year old and he never met his family on his fathers side, they do not even know of his existence… my boyfriend is muslim and his parents are very strict, and religious.. i have every intention of converting to islam for my own personal reasons… but that still doesnt change the fact he is not going to tell his family, his family is the kind of family that do the arranged marriage thing i understand it will be hard to let them know about the situation.. and with the whole fear of honor killing it is alot on him… but still doing this whole mommy baby thing is big stress on me aswell.. i am 20 years old and had to drop out of college for the baby, where he stayed to continue his studies, because of his school he does not work… does not have is drivers license with little intentions of getting it… and yes he does come around to see the kid but does not contribute to anything really when it comes to the kid (clothes, diapers. milk, toys…etc)… and when he does give i have to ask… which bothers me because it doesnt even cross his mind to get anything for his son unless i bring it to his attention… he use to come over everyday, but as the baby gets older and more attached to me he has been showing up less and less… and when he does come over he spends 70% of the time playing video games…everything thus far has been for his convenience…and right now i want to leave him and ive wanted to leave him for about 3 months now but i know it will end very bitter and i want my son to know who his father is and to know his culture… i have spoken to him in the past about telling his family and it turns into arguments, and its not worth the stress…. i do love him but i am fed up because i am alone in this, my family knows and loves my son… but they dont really help as much is i’d like them to… then again it isnt their responsibility………, but his family is not aware of his existence… or mine… he is scared that they will kick him out of the house if they find out about the baby… seriously what should be the next step… cuz i feel like im at a dead end…..

From my understanding of the Muslim faith they will disown him and you as well the baby if they knew or make you two get married. As for leaving him I would if your gut says to. Sort out your life and if he chooses to be involved then let him. Let him be the one to tell his family about the child.
No way! You and your son are not something to be ashamed of. I totally understand the cultural restrictions. But, this is ridiculous. You should tell them.
